It's the moment Marlins fans have waited their entire lives to hear. The Marlins are your 2022 Corner Brook Senior League Champions. An expansion-era team that had never won a playoff series before this year has now won it all. On Tuesday night, up 2-0 in their best of five finals series against the Hawks, the Marlins put Kyle Brown on the mound to shut down the Hawks bats.
His own team would start by giving him some wiggle room. Matt Colbourne cracked a 2 RBI double to left in the bottom of the second to get things started, before the whole team exploded for an 8 run second inning. Ryan Park hit a 2 RBI single, followed by RBI singles from Carter Park and Zac Fagan. An error, wild pitch, and an RBI groundout from Riley Lockyer would make it 9-0, before Kyle Brown would do some damage to help his own cause with an RBI double.
The Hawks saw a brief offensive burst in the top of the fifth on RBI singles from Fred Cutler and Andrew Flood, but after that it was smooth swimming for the Marlins as the boys in blue completed a franchise-long search for victory. Thank you to everyone who made this senior league season possible, and congrats to the Marlins on winning it all. Have a safe and fun offseason.
