Sunday June 15th: Hawks' Ace Beats Aces

Jun. 18, 2023

Sunday night's matchup between the Hawks and the Aces saw a return to the mound for the Hawks' most fearsome pitcher the past couple of years, Aaron Purcell-Pilgrim. On Sunday, he demonstrated why he has earned that reputation, throwing a complete game, two hit shutout for his team. The ace pitcher mowed down batters, walking just one while fanning ten.

The Aces for their part pitched well as well, utilizing their young pitching through the trio of Ryan Lombard, Joe Wiseman, and James Lewis. Their combined effort, while impressive, ultimately gave up two runs on the night. The first was scored by Parker Salyzyn thanks to some savvy baserunning, and the second on a sacrifice fly by Darren Colbourne that allowed Fred Prosper to score. That would be all that the Hawks needed to score on the night, and they would defeat the Aces 2-0.
